Family History Research
An increasing number of people are starting to research their family history and the availability of relatively cheap DNA testing kits is also driving more people to research their families.
The Centre subscribes to Ancestry.com, FindmyPast and Britishnespapersarchives. So we can help you look for your relatives. We have also done a considerable amount of research on Barlborough miners and men who fought in WW1. This research supports publications produced by the Centre.
We have also the 2,000 plus inhabitants of Barlborough recorded on the 1939 Register and have access to the recently released 1921 Census, which currently is only available in FindmyPast. This Census shows the employer and place of work. Virtually every man was 'out of work' due to industrial action and age main employer was the Staveley Coal & Iron Company.
